Art and the Dance - Winter Park and Orlando, FL
Join us for a day in the Winter Park-Orlando area on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 for art, entertainment and fun! We will visit the Orlando Musuem of Art to see the exhibition by Florida artist Barbara Sorensen entitled Topographies in addition to many other exhibitions on view from their permanent collections. We will also visit the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens and tour the home and chapel and explore their butterfly garden, two water gardens, the cycad collection, and the many individual gardens found throughout the property.
That evening we will attend the performance of Billy Elliot the Musical, winner of 10 Tony Awards, at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center. Based on the international smash-hit film, Billy Elliot is the joyous celebration of one boy's journey to make his dreams come true. Set in a small town, the story follows Billy as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, discovering a surprising passion that inspires his family and his whole community. Billy Elliot is brought to life by a phenomenal cast of 45, director Stephen Daldry, choreographer Peter Darling and writer Lee Hall -- along with music written by legend Elton John.
We will enjoy lunch upon arrival in Orlando and dinner in Winter Park before the performance of Billy Elliot and will return to Vero Beach late Wednesday evening. The cost, which includes transportation, entrance fees and all meals, is $250 per person or $220 per person with your discount. A $50 deposit is due with your reservation by December 15, 2011 and the balance is due by January 6, 2012.
Join your Museum friends (and make new ones) for a day of art and entertainment, great food, and great fun!
